Active Standard: A426 / A426M - 13
This action will delete Grade CP91 from A426. ASME has made several changes to ASME Code Case 2192, the code case permitting use of Grade C12a in A217 and Grade CP91 in A426, in ASME Section I Boiler construction. The attempt to incorporate several of these changes in A217 has met with significant objections, and the present consensus is that rather than try to overcome these objections, the best course is to write a new specification patterned on A217 for the creep-strength enhanced ferritic steels such as Grade C12a. At the same time, related discussions indicate that no one appears to be using or producing centrifugal castings of CP91 in A426. So rather than write a separate centrifugal casting specification for a grade no one may be using, this action will simply delete the grade from A426. Of course, if the ballot elicits information indicating that A426 CP91 is being produced and used, a different action will be initiated.
