ASTM WK41442

Revision of D1319 - 10 Standard Test Method for Hydrocarbon Types in Liquid Petroleum Products by Fluorescent Indicator Adsorption

    (What is a Work Item?)

    Active Standard: D1319 - 14

Developed by Subcommittee: D02.04.0C | Committee D02 | Contact Staff Manager

    1. Rationale

It has been brought to the attention of the subcommittee that the need to store the gel under an atmosphere of nitrogen is not critical to ensure a shelf life of at least five years. Instead, protecting the dyed gel from light and avoiding elevated temperatures can result in a similar shelf life without the need to store under an atmosphere of nitrogen, as air oxidation does not appear to impact the performance of the dyed gel.
