This standard is being balloted for withdrawal with no replacement because Standard Practice E1454 recommends metadata fields for storage with digital ultrasonic inspection data. Since it was originally published, E2339 on the Digital Image Communication for Nondestructive Evaluation (DICONDE) and E2663 Digital Image Communication for Nondestructive Evaluation (DICONDE) for Ultrasonic Test Methods have issued. These two standard practices go beyond E1454 by defining both metadata and specific methods for the storage of that metadata for digital ultrasonic inspection processes. During the past two years, the DICONDE subcommittee has sought a technical point of contact for updating E1454 to harmonize it with E2339 and E2663. None have come forward. During that time DICONDE subcommittee has attempted to identify users of E1454 and has not located any. For these reasons, DICONDE subcommittee is recommending the E1454 be withdrawn.
