1. Rationale
Add hollow bar as an alternate application to specification. Tubing that will be machined into components is regularly ordered/produced to this specification since there is no alternative for hollow bar. The addition of hollow bar to A511 will provide a cost effective alternative to solid bar (ASTM A276/A479) when machining is required. A511 only allows tubing in Od x wall tolerances. The revision of this specification would also allow OD x ID tolerances.
