WK41359 Revision of D6423 - 08 Standard Test Method for Determination of pHe of Ethanol, Denatured Fuel Ethanol, and Fuel Ethanol (Ed75-Ed85)

1. Rationale

The recent revision of ASTM D5798 allows a minimum of 51% ethanol in the fuel. This fuel must meet a pHe limit using the D6423 test method. However, this test method was not developed with so little ethanol so the method must be demonstrated with this low ethanol level or modified to measure pHe successfully at allowed compositions in D5798.
