1. Rationale
Reference 33245 I am initiating an update to C471 Standard Test Methods for Chemical Analysis of Gypsum and Gypsum Products. The proposed change will include an update to Section 7. Free Water and Section 8. Combined Water to include methods that are more typically used in the gypsum industry. Specifically, the methods described in the current standard are manual gravimetric chemistry methods whereas automated moisture balance methods are more commonly used in practice.
