1. Rationale
This document is being balloted to ASTM D02.02 and D02 The current document is in inconsistent with other recently developed standards/practices. For example, ASTM Practice D7717-11(Standard Practice for Preparing Volumetric Blends of Denatured Fuel Ethanol and Gasoline Blendstocks for Laboratory Analysis) was recently published to provide guidance for the long-standing practice of preparing gasoline and denatured ethanol laboratory composite blends. The current document (D5842/8.4) contains a precautionary statement to Never manually prepare composite samples for this test. The document will be revised to remove the inconsistency..
