Provide steps for selection of soils, appropriate tests and procedures to follow for designing lime stabilized soils.
Lime is often added to fine grained soils to improve their engineering properties. Several different procedures exist to select the appropriate quantity of lime to add to the soil, as well as to test the performance changes that occur. Guidance documents exist but they are neither consistent nor broadly distributed. This guide will clarify best practices as well as potential outcomes for designing lime stabilized in the laboratory.
