1. Scope
This test method covers the guidelines, requirements and procedures for evaluating the ability of Sediment Retention Devices (SRDs) ability to remove suspended sediment from sediment-laden water for the purpose of dewatering.
This standard is needed to evaluate SRDs in a dewatering environment. It is also needed due to recent regulations limiting the clarity of stormwater exiting a construction site. Stormwater exiting a construction site needs to be relatively free of sediment that will pollute water bodies. This test method will assign a numeric value to the stormwater as it exits the dewatering channel or a construction site.
