1. Rationale
The rational for the revision of D2983 is to generalize the wording and application of the method. Currently the method is written specifically for the use of a Brookfield viscometer. Today there are other instruments available that can perform the testing within the requirements of the test method. The revision will modify the wording so that other instruments aside from the Brookfield brand rotational viscometer are acceptable for running D2983.
