1. Rationale

The recent Round Robin tests indicated that many users experience some level of calibration error when using the instrument manufacturers calibration method, that may not be suitable for this test method. The subcommittee therefore feels that a generic calibration method using a Portland cement with known heat of hydration should be offered in a non-mandatory appendix.
