1. Scope
1.1 This test method covers the determination of phosphorus in water and waste water using suppressed ion chromatography as a measurement of o-phosphate after hot plate digestion of acid hydrolysable phosphorus + organic phosphorus. Examples of inorganic phosphates are meta-phosphate, poly phosphate, and tripoly phosphate. Examples of organic phosphates are phosphonates, organophosphate pesticides, and so forth. 1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only. 1.3 This test method may involve hazardous materials, operations, and equipment. This standard does not purport to address all of the safety problems associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish proper safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. Material safety data sheets are available for reagents and materials. Review them for hazards before usage.
User will be able to determine dissolved o-phosphate and convert other phosphates into o-phosphate to determine total phosphorus content in water, river water, groundwater, and well water matrices.
