1. Rationale

The purpose of this work item is to revise the definitions of terms related to density and specific gravity so that they are in agreement with changes that were made to Test Method C127 in 2002. In addition, it is proposed to define the following terms: relative density, impermeable pores, permeable pores, oven-dry, and saturated-surface-dry.
