ASTM WK40426

(What is a Work Item? / How to Input to a Work Item)

Work Item: ASTM WK40426 - Revision of B961 - 08 Standard Specification for Silver Coated Copper and Copper Alloy Stranded Conductors for Electronic Space Application

Active Standard: B961 - 13

Developed by Subcommittee: B01.04 | Committee B01 Home | Contact Staff Manager

1. Rationale

9.1.2 and 9.1.2.1 The copper and nickel over-coating was initially included to align with ESA/SCC 3901 micro sectioning procedures. Most if not all companies will have procedures to perform micro-sectioning without the nickel or copper over coating as a requirement. The addition of 9.1.2.1 allows the over coating to be optional. 10.2.4.2 Clarified specific test from section 4 that are typically completed as inspection test in production. 10.2.4.2.1 Micro-sectioning and the red plague corrosion test are non-standard or specialized test completed in a lab only setting as opposed to being a production test. The addition of 10.2.4.2.1 clarifies that the non-standard or lab test isnt a required test for every manufactured production unit.
