Ballot Rationale: this specification is being balloted to remove section 4.3.2 and to remove the E112 Specification reference in the Referenced Document Section. This specification involves heat treated (quench and tempered) bar material (see reference to quench and temper in section 1.1 and 4.2.1) and as such, a reference to rating a hot-rolled grain size for a finished spring that has been quench and tempered is not applicable (i.e. looking at a quench and tempered martensitic structure). The removal of 4.3.2 would allow the removal of the E112 Test Methods for Determining Average Grain Size specification since one is not rating a hot rolled grain size.
