This standard is being balloted for withdrawal with no replacement because ... At its meeting in Atlanta on November 16 2012, the subcommittee discussed the origins and revision history of this standard and agreed that withdrawal, rather than going maintenance, was the most appropriate course of action. The following is extract from the minutes of that meetingThis standard was initially a dictionary of terms used in the footwear industry. It has been reviewed and reduced several times over the past 20 years but has never been of much interest or value. The standard was reviewed. It was noted that the terms defined in the standard were almost all unrelated to any of the standards maintained by the subcommittee. (The terminology is not cited in any current standard.) After some discussion, it was agreed that the standard should be balloted for withdrawal. If one or more negative votes suggest the terminology has some value, the SC will maintain it.Martyn R.
