1. Rationale
While Annex A4, of A480/A480M-12, addresses requirements for adding new materials, there are no established requirements for adding materials that are not new, but that exist in other A01 or B02.07 specifications. This action proposes an Annex to establish such requirements. B02.07 materials are addressed because of the ongoing movement of B02.07 alloys that meet the definition of a steel in A941, but that were once considered non-ferrous alloys, into A01 specifications. The proposed Annex follows the practice that Subcommittees A01.10 and A01.17 have been following for some time. The new Annex differs from the Annex for adding new materials in that there are no requirements for either a request from a user or for data; instead a requirement is provided that the material being added have the same chemistry, properties, and heat treatment as it has in the other A01 or B02.07 specification.
