1. Rationale
ASTM Standard E531-76(2007) is being revised and submitted to ballot at E10 main committee level. Most changes with respect to the current version have been approved at E10.02 subcommittee level, and are highlighted in yellow. The list of referenced standards has also been updated. In particular, E531 now reflects the fact the fact that now ASTM testing standards for fatigue and fatigue crack growth testing are available. Finally, the English equivalent to a number of metric dimensions has been added in parentheses.
