1. Scope
The purpose of this method is to provide the logic that must be followed when evaluating antimicrobial materials. The guide will start with general testing requirements and progress to understanding the data provided by qualitative, quantitative, and scenario based testing.
Many standards are available for evaluating antimicrobial materials. However, these standards don't provide a "big picture" overview that defines the logical steps that are needed to properly understand the antimicrobial material and to select appropriate methods to evaluate their performance. There is also no link between the many standards and no rationale is available of why one standard would be used verses others. We anticipate that all sectors of the research and testing community would use this guide.
