1. Rationale
During the last revision in 2011, it was determined that there is a need to accommodate the use of other mixers than the Hobart mixer (C305-11). It was found that, to allow the use of commercially available mixers, other modifications were needed, such as how speed is controlled during the procedure. Some mixers today use an electronic control instead of a mechanical control for the speed as stated in the current standard now. The subcommittee requested that CTL conduct comparative tests between various commercially available mixers with different enclosures and it was found that there were no differences (C01.22 Minutes, June 2010 meeting). Thus section 4.1 needs to be modified.
