1. Rationale
Discussion, at the May, 2012, meeting of A01.22.03, of an inquiry about requirements to add a material to a specification referencing A961/A961M, made clear that while Annex A1 addresses requirements for adding new materials, there are no established requirements for adding materials that are not new, but that exist in other A01 or B02.07 specifications. That discussion resulted in a revision to A961 (under WK37903) which is now in print in A961/A961m-12A. This action proposes a similar Annex for A960. B02.07 materials are addressed because of the ongoing movement of B02.07 alloys that meet the definition of a steel in A941, but that were once considered non-ferrous alloys. The proposed Annex follows the practice that Subcommittees A01.10 and A01.17 have been following for some time. The action also includes minor editorial revisions to Annex 1 in A1.1.1.
