1. Rationale

Withdrawl of Grade 4 nuts from ASTM A194. Investigation has shown that the majority of ASTM A194 Grade 4 nuts are made from material conforming to ASTM A194 Grade 7. This is worldwide practice. Since Grade 7 nuts meet all mechanical and physical requirements of Grade 4 nuts it is recommended that Grade 4 nuts are removed from future revisions of ASTM A194
