1. Rationale
Discussion, at the May, 2012, meeting of A01.10, made clear that while Annex A1 addresses requirements for adding new of grades materials, there are no established requirements for adding grades that are not new, but that already exist in other A01 or B02.07 specifications. This action proposes an Annex to establish such requirements. B02.07 materials are addressed because of the ongoing movement of B02.07 alloys that meet the definition of a steel in A941, but that were once considered non-ferrous alloys. The proposed Annex follows and documents the un-written practice that Subcommittees A01.10 and A01.17 have been following for some time.
