The C612 specification currently references C665 for Mineral-Fiber Thermal Insulation Specification containing a Test Method for Corrosiveness to Steel. A corrosion test practice C1617 Standard Practice for Quantitives Accelerated Laboratory Evaluation of Extracted Solutions Containing Ions Leached from Thermal Insulation on Aqueous Corrosion of Metals is proposed as an alternative test Steel only to the C665 Test Method for corrosion.
