    WK39597

    1. Scope

1.1This method is designed to evaluate quantitatively the antibacterial activity of carpet sanitizers. 1.2Knowledge of microbiological techniques is required for this test. 1.3Units The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard. 1.4This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns. If any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

EPA currently has outdated DSS TSS 8 performance guidelines for products claiming to be carpet sanitizers. There are no current standardized test methods that address carpet sanitizers. Modernization of the general framework of the EPA method could provide a standardized method that could be used to support efficacy evaluations or regulatory label claims.
