1. Rationale
In 2011, STLEs Metalworking Fluid Certification Steering Committee identified differences in definitions use in D2281 Classification for Metalworking Fluids and Related Materials and E2523. As set of proposed, harmonized definitions was balloted as changes to D2281 and has now (October 2012)passed society ballot. This Work Item is being created to harmonize E2523 with D2281; thew reference document for the following terms: 1.Emulsifiable oil 2.Emulsifier 3.Emulsion 4.Emulsion synthetic oil 5.Functional additive 6.Semi-synthetic fluid 7.Solution synthetic fluid 8.Straight oil 9.Straight synthetic oil Each of these terms will be balloted as a separate item.
