1. Rationale
Rationale: A large inter-laboratory study (ILS-628) was conducted in D.02.03 (Elemental Analysis) in 2010. In this study, D7220 tested 5 No. 1 fuel oils (Kerosene-type) and 16 other fuels (8 ea. spark ignition engine and 8 ea. No.2 diesel) were also analyzed. The precision (r & R) obtained for all materials tested is shown in comparison to two commonly used D2880 test methods in the following Table.
