1. Rationale
A large inter-laboratory study (ILS-628) was conducted in D02.03 (Elemental Analysis) in 2010. In this study D7220 tested 13 ea. No.1 and No. 2 S500 distillate sample types including No.1 and No.2 fuel oil / biodiesel blends (B2, B5, B11 and B20). 8 ea. spark ignition engine fuels were also analyzed. The precision (r & R) obtained is shown in comparison to two current D396 total sulfur test methods (D5453 and D2622) in the following table 1.
