ASTM WK39236

(What is a Work Item? / How to Input to a Work Item)

Work Item: ASTM WK39236 - Revision of F1545 - 97(2009) Standard Specification for Plastic-Lined Ferrous Metal Pipe, Fittings, and Flanges

Active Standard: F1545 - 97(2009)

Developed by Subcommittee: F17.11 | Committee F17 Home | Contact Staff Manager

1. Rationale

High Density Polyethylene lined metallic pipe has existed since 1963. This Revision is to add HDPE as a specified liner material for metallic pipe, and to correct this extended oversight. The new ASME Standard for Thermoplastic pipe includes lined metallic pipe in it, and cites ASTM F1545 as the reference standard. HDPE lined metallic pipe is included in the new ASME Code, and thus must be added to F1545. The other companies who make polymeric lined metallic pipe are in support of this HDPE addition ( Resistoflex, etc...).
