1. Scope

1.1 This practice covers the determination of alpha emitting isotopes of uranium, plutonium, americium and curium in food samples in the range of 0.002 Bq/gram (0.054 pCi/gram) or greater. There is an increasing need for rapid radioanalytical methods both for routine surveillance testing and for emergency response. It is anticiapted that this standard will be adopted by the FDA/USDA and by laboratories performing actinide radiochemical analyses.
