1. Scope

1.1 This standard applies to operations of amusement railway ride(s) that have a track gage greater than or equal to 12 inches (305mm) measured between the heads of the rails. 1.2 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. 1.3 The operation of Amusement Railway Rides have significant amounts of energy associated with their movement on or around their directed course. This energy represents a hazard to operators, inspectors, maintenance technicians, guests, equipment, objects, and other items. This energy must be controlled or secured prior to any interaction with the amusement railway ride or their associated systems.
