1. Rationale
An Interlaboratory study (ILS) was completed recently on Creep-Fatigue Interactions within the ASTM Subcommittee E08.05 on Cyclic Deformation and Crack Formation. Based on the results generated in this ILS during the last two years, a precision and bias statement was developed for creep-fatigue testing. The Standard test method for Creep-Fatigue Testing (E-2714) is being revised to include the newly developed precision and bias statement. In addition, a few other changes are also being made to E-2714 to 1) correct minor errors in the current version, 2) provide additional clarifications, and 3) delete redundant references. At this time, only the newly developed precision and bias statement and other explicitly made changes are being balloted at the Subcommittee level. The remaining part of Standard E-2714 is not being balloted and is provided for information purpose only.
