This standard is being withdrawn because there are simpler methods available to quantify the shape and texture of fine aggregates that correlate well with this method.NCAT Report 91-03 states that methods proposed by the National Aggregate Association (these methods are now adopted as ASTM C1252) show very good correlations with D3398, and are more straightforward and less time consuming.Additionally, no users of this standard have been identified in recent meetings of Subcommittee D04.51
