1. Rationale
The 4/10 abradant listed in the method is no longer available. The replacement abradant has not been evaluated and should be evaluated in an interlaboratory study (ILS). The recommendation would be to incorporate the new abradant into the method. It appears in the 6/9 abradant, there is slightly less of the larger grit particles (2.8mm and 3.35mm) and more of the particles that range between 2.00mm and 2.36mm which I would expect it to make the abradant more repeatable.
