1. Scope
This standard will cover co-extruded PVC plastic drain, waste and vent pipe made to Schedule 40 IPS and produced by the co-extrusion process with concentric inner and outer solid PVC layers and the core consisting of closed-cell cellular PVC.
Currently, there is an ASTM standard which covers this type of pipe-co-extruded PVC with a cellular core (ASTM F891), however this standard is not specific to DWV pipe. This product has been excluded from the Canadian National Building Code because the current standard is considered too general. A standard specific to DWV will allow consideration of PVC DWV pipe with a cellular core for inclusion into the NBC. At this time, ASTM F628 (ABS DWV Cellular Core Pipe) is included in the NBC
