1. Rationale
Equestrian sports in the United States are weighted toward female riders, with many riders of both sexes beginning lessons before the age of five. In the real world smaller head mass than is common with other sports must be considered when offering head protection. The variable mass drop assembly and C headform have already been added to ASTM F1446-11a and ASTM f1447.
