ASTM WK38662

Revision of D7136 / D7136M - 12 Standard Test Method for Measuring the Damage Resistance of a Fiber-Reinforced Polymer Matrix Composite to a Drop-Weight Impact Event

    (What is a Work Item?)

    Active Standard: D7136 / D7136M - 12

Developed by Subcommittee: D30.05 | Committee D30 | Contact Staff Manager

    WK38662

    1. Rationale

As discussed at the Spring 2012 D30.05 meeting, demonstrating the velocity measurement accuracy of 5 mm/s [0.20 in./s] required in Section 7.3.4 is impractical at higher impact velocities. This revision will provide a realistic and practical velocity measurement tolerance for equipment used for impactor calibration on-site in laboratories.
