1. Rationale
The following definition for composting appears in D6400. This definition is a paragraph long, and essentially is a collection of definitions that appeared in a Compost Facility Operations guide. The collection of sentences has the same elements in it and so essentially repeated in all the sentences. The proposed definition incorporates all the essential elements found in the existing definition and synthesizes it into a concise definition. The proposed definition is in agreement with rules of terminology standards and can be adopted into D883 as well.
