. Industry experience has shown the ability to meet the thermal and physical properties of ASTM C578 Type IV products at densities not reflected by the current requirement. Rationale: The minimum density property for C578 Type IV does not adequately reflect current industry capabilities. Thermal resistance, water vapor permeance, water absorption, dimensional stability, oxygen index are not changed by the density revision. Compressive resistance and flexural resistance also not changed by the density revision.
