1. Scope
The scope of this document is ecologically sustainable management of unused and waste materials from the construction site. Such materials may include but are not limited to unused construction chemicals, unused finishing materials, scrap structural materials and all other unused or scrap building materials and their packaging. This will also include ancillary items such as but not limited to tools, forms, safety materials/PPE, food, paper documents, etc; anything that can be consumed on the construction site. Waste in the manufacturing of such products is out of scope, as are any activities that occur before materials enter the job site.
There is no current ASTM or consensus process developed practice for the management of construction waste. The end-users would be contractors, architects, building owners/reps, consultants and potentially government, all of whom have an interest in reducing site wastes.
