1. Rationale
This sub-committee ballot contains one item. The basis for the proposed removal of reference to an X-Y plotter in the specification for data acquisition for ASTM C1550 is that X-Y plotters are no longer used for the recording of load-deflection curves for this test method. Moreover, the remainder of the specification does not include any description of how to calculate performance parameters using data obtained with an X-Y plotter. It is therefore preferable to remove reference to use of an X-Y plotter and stipulate that load and deflection must be recorded using digital recording devices.
