1. Rationale
When preparing mortars as described in ASTM C1012 section 7, it has often been confusing as to what water cement ratio or flow is used in sample preparation. The addition of a pozzolan or slag to C150 cement to produce a manufactured C595 (blended or interground) may be interpreted differently than batching a C150 cement and blending it with C618 (Fly ash) or C989 (Slag Cement) products at concrete production facility. In order to clarify this issue, the procedure has been presented in a table format.
