ASTM WK38514

(What is a Work Item? / How to Input to a Work Item)

Work Item: ASTM WK38514 - Revision of D2699 - 12 Standard Test Method for Research Octane Number of Spark-Ignition Engine Fuel

Active Standard: D2699 - 12

Developed by Subcommittee: D02.01 | Committee D02 Home | Contact Staff Manager

1. Rationale

Since mid-2007 GE Waukesha has produced all new CFR Octane and Cetane Units to meet European CE Mark compliance requirements. One of the changes to achieve this classification on Octane Units involves enclosing the valve train. Consequently additional instruction must be provided for users when setting the basic Rocker Arm Carrier Support height. The original system allowed direct access to the machined surface while the new system has interference to this measurement. The added guidance instructs the user how to compensate for this interference.
