1. Rationale
The D1500-07 method version was submitted for reapproval as item 27 on the D02 (12-03) ballot, but received a negative from an individual from the Energy Institute who stated that, Paragraph 1.1, Note 1 refers to IP 17 as follows: IP Method 17 includes a procedure for measuring the color of undyed, refined products such as gasoline, white spirit, and kerosine by comparison with a series of IP Standard glasses. Procedure B, which covered the use of this scale was removed from IP 17 in the 2010 update of the method so the line should be removed from the ASTM method. Based on this negative, this ballot item was prepared to address this issue.
