1. Scope
An ASTM standard test procedure is desired for the Proton Transfer Reaction Mass Spectrometer (PTR-MS), a technique that can detect multiple volatile organic compounds (VOC) in real time through positive chemical ionization using H3O+ as the reagent ion. This proposed standard will focus on analyzing for many VOCs in ambient air, process exhaust stream gas and head space as opposed to particulates or liquids.
