1. Rationale
Currently, there exists varying requirements for drying and cooling units for preparation when performing different procedures in Test Methods C67. The Task Group reviewed these and could find no good explanation for the different unit preparation, other than the procedures being written at different times and related changes to section numbers. This proposal attempts to bring consistency to unit preparation related to drying and cooling. The method for drying specimens is included in Section 5.1.1. The method for cooling specimens is included in Section 5.1.2. Section 5.1.2 includes an alternate cooling method for ambient cooling described in Section 5.1.2.1. As such, by referencing Section 5.1, both the drying and cooling procedures would be referenced.
