1. Rationale

The Precision and Bias statements, along with Repeatability and Reproducibility statements for ASTM C 1271 (Standard Test Method for X-ray Spectrometric Analysis of Lime and Limestone) are based upon a 1997 round robin test that was conducted with five high calcium limestones. Since the method is intended to be applied to the analysis of all limes and limestones, including those of dolomitic composition, testing of dolomites is needed.
