1. Scope
This test method is limited to tests focused on measuring the impacts of cyclic loading in a simple shear test on the pore water pressure response of saturated soils. It will be focused on sandy soils, and will involve procedures to assess loading in either load control or displacement control.
This is a commonly used test for liquefaction evaluation, but a current standard is not available. It is mainly performed for research purposes, but there are several laboratories who now have this equipment.
