1. Scope
This specification covers precast reinforced concrete Three-Sided Structures comprised of separate segments that once properly field assembled make the final structure. These structures are intended to be used for the construction of culverts and for the conveyance of storm water.
Precast Reinforced Concrete Three-Sided Structures have been utilized in a variety of applications. Some precast producers, specifiers, and agencies have found it beneficial to utilize precast Three-Sided Structures that are assembled in segments, to reduce shipping and handling weight, address local construction practices, etc. These structures have different design and manufacturing requirements. The new standard would allow specifiers (consulting engineers, public agencies, etc) to specify these product with confidence.
