ASTM WK37396

(What is a Work Item? / How to Input to a Work Item)

Work Item: ASTM WK37396 - Revision of D2700 - 11e1 Standard Test Method for Motor Octane Number of Spark-Ignition Engine Fuel

Active Standard: D2700 - 12

Developed by Subcommittee: D02.01 | Committee D02 Home | Contact Staff Manager

1. Rationale

The current applicable O.N. rating range for Procedure D of D2700 specifies a range from 72 to 103.5 (without a decimal point). The lack of a decimal point for 72 is inconsistent with other parts of the test method. Precedence has been set by Subcommittee E to adjust the minimum Cetane Number level in D975 from 40 to 40. to avoid any ambiguity (D02 10-04 Item 33). The applicable O.N. rating range for Procedures D of D2700 should be updated to be from 72.0 to 103.5.
